At last, a victory

Ok, so I went to work this morning for 9:15, and as I was waiting at the door I was wondering how everyone had reacted to my giving the outline of the bylaw to my manager. Seriously, my stomach was a mess of butterflies. I went into the store, said hello to my coworker, and went into the staff room. There, on the door, was a very prominent "NO SMOKING" sign. I felt both relieved and anxious. I mean, now I wouldn't have to be careful of when I go in there, wouldn't have to make excuses to leave when they're both in there smoking. I won't have to look back if I'm ever diagnosed with lung cancer and think "why didn't I just stand up for myself and my rights?". But I'm still afraid of how the people who smoke are going to treat me. I saw one of them today buying something, she was nice enough, not as friendly as usual but I may have imagined that and she looked absolutely wiped too. So ok. But then next week I have to work with my manager for three of my four shifts. Ok, I know that she was the one who chose whether or not to do something about it, but it still worries me. Well, I guess if she does start to treat me like crap then I'll be looking for a new job. It just isn't worth it.

Come gather 'round people
Wherever you roam
And admit that the waters
Around you have grown
And accept it that soon
You'll be drenched to the bone.
If your time to you
Is worth savin'
Then you better start Swimmin'
Or you'll sink like a stone
For the times they are a-changin'.
...

Come mothers and fathers
Throughout the land
And don't criticize
What you can't understand
Your sons and your daughters
Are beyond your command
Your old road is
Rapidly agin'.
Please get out of the new one
If you can't lend your hand
For the times they are a-changin'.

The line it is drawn
The curse it is cast
The slow one now
Will later be fast
As the present now
Will later be past
The order is
Rapidly fadin'.
And the first one now
Will later be last
For the times they are a-changin'.

Just a little Simon and Garfunkel for the New Year. Happy New Year everyone! Hope it goes well for everyone, and that the times a-change for you!

Morning songbird, sing away

When did life get so complicated? I mean, everything was going along fine, and then BAM! The world falls apart. Well, OK, I guess I'm being a little melodramatic. But that's the way that it seems right now. I should've known. Why does life have the nasty habit of springing bad things on people when things finally seem to be going right? Oh well, if you think about it, things could be so much worse. I mean, what do I have to worry about? Nothing life threatening, right? Like I said, things could be so much worse. At least I had fun last night. Good stuff. Haven't actually spent time like that with my friends in a looong time. It wasn't what I thought it would be, but it was really fun. Hopefully I'll be able to interact more with people at school. It was fun, but there were still times that I felt like an outsider. Oh well, it's to be expected. It still kind of hurts that my other friends thought that I was going to ditch them when I started going out with David. I was worried about that too. That's why whenever I got the opportunity to hang out with them I would take it, and I even told David when I started going out with him that my friends would always be my number one priority, and that he would have to deal with that. Funny how when people start to push you away, you push them away too after awhile. Oh well, things are starting to get better now, with people who are mature enough to accept that I have a boyfriend that I love and care for and who understands that I need to have friends. Who reminded me that I need friends. I'm just venting here, I know that I sound all negative. I'm just tired. Got some worries now. Oh well, what can you do when you live in a shoe?

Hopefully, the start of something beautiful...

Well, there ya go. Here I am, I will try and post when I can...What am I saying? I'll post when I feel like it, I'll try not to neglect this blog too badly, no promises though. I figure that I need an outlet of some sort, so I guess that this will be it. I'm not doing this for public approval, just for myself, so if you enjoy this, then fine, but if not, then oh well. Well, here I go...
I finally talked to my manager about the smoking issue at work. Kind of took the cowards way out, printed out the bylaw, highlighted the important stuff and handed it to her as I was leaving this afternoon saying that some people had been complaining about the smell of smoke in the store(true) and some of them had mentioned something about the smoking bylaw(half true-the ones who mentioned it were against the bylaw) and that I kind of wanted to give her the heads up before someone phoned bylaw on her. Which will probably be me. But she doesn't need to know that. I feel better doing this than I would've had I just phoned the bylaw people like my dad figured I should. Hopefully it'll all work out. I feel kind of dead on my feet. I think that I'm gonna go and study for a bit (ha, more like fall asleep while I'm trying to cram stuff into my head) and then do something unexciting, like go to bed or watch a movie. So long.
